Aline Miller, BSc(Hons) PhD FRSC FInstP

Chief Executive Office, Director and Founder

Aline currently oversees and leads on all aspects of the business and has over two decades of experience guiding commercial and academic teams across the life science sector. She has a strong track record of raising funds to drive the translation of academic research into the clinical and commercial setting.

Before taking the CEO role, Aline was Professor of Biomolecular Engineering at The University of Manchester. She is a chemist by training and also held a New Hall Junior Research Fellowship at the University of Cambridge.

Alberto Saiani PhD FInstP MRSC

Chief Scientific Officer and Founder

Alberto co-founded the company and has extensive knowledge of the structure and properties of peptide hydrogels. He advises on product development and company collaborative opportunities.

Alberto is also a Professor of Molecular Materials in the Department of Materials at The University of Manchester, where his work focuses on the development of polymer and biopolymer materials for biomedical applications.

Adedamola (Dammy) Olayanju PhD

Senior Scientist

Dammy is the company’s technical expert and offers support and training programmes in 2D and 3D cell culture and organoid growth for our customers, and the wider community. He also contributes to the development of external scientific projects.

Prior to joining MBG, Dammy was a senior research scientist at Northwick Park Institute for Medical Research (NPIMR), London. He also gained postdoctoral training and his PhD in Pharmacology and Therapeutics from the University of Liverpool.

Ash Cramer-Smith, MChem

Production Scientist

Ash is responsible for the production of catalogue and bespoke PeptiGels® and PeptiInks® while optimising manufacturing processes to meet increasing demand. He also has responsibility for our supply chain management.

Ash joined the team shortly after graduating from the University of Hull in Chemistry with Analytical and Forensic Science. He completed an industrial placement year at RE: Group (UK) working to ISO standards with UKAS accreditation.

Andrew Murphy, MChem

Production Scientist

Andrew manufactures our peptide hydrogel products with a focus on quality control and ensuring adherence to our quality management systems. Andrew also leads on all Health and Safety aspects in the company.

Previously he worked as an Analytical Chemist at a solvent recovery site where he worked on quality control, development and scale-up opportunities. Andrew graduated from The University of Central Lancashire with a Masters degree in Chemistry.

Jessica Hutchinson PhD

Business Development Manager

Jessica is our Sales Manager and her role is to help grow and develop the company by building relationships with industrial partners, as well as academic collaborators.

She holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Reading, where she gained significant experience with self-assembling peptide hydrogels. Her knowledge of peptide hydrogels along with her customer-centric nature ensures that she understands our customers’ needs, to help find them the best solution.

Sophie Davidson

Production Engineer

Sophie is our Production Engineer and is responsible for increasing the scale of production while also ensuring that the high quality of our product is maintained. Sophie is currently on a placement year at the company as part of her integrated Masters degree in Chemical Engineering with Industrial Experience from The University of Manchester.

Jessica Sykes

Postdoctoral Researcher

Jess works between Alderley Park and The University of Manchester where she is focussed on the optimisation of protocols for the use of our hydrogel products and their translation into clinical applications.

Jess has previous experience in the clinical translation of 2D and 3D cell culture through her PhD (Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt orthopaedic Hospital, University of Keele), MRes and Batchelor degree in Biomedical Science (University of Liverpool).

Dariusz Lachowski

Innovate KTP Fellow

Dariusz is an Innovate Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Fellow demonstrating the utility of our hydrogel products as a platform for use in cell biology. As part of this, he is transferring experimental expertise in the field of cancer biology and mechanobiology from the Cellular and Biochemical Laboratory at Imperial College London, to the knowledge base of the company.

Dariusz holds a PhD from Imperial College London and a Masters degree from Jagiellonian University Childrens Hospital, Cracow, Poland.

Corina Ogea

Financial Controller

Corina takes care of all elements of finance and accounts as well as helping to ensure that the company’s data is both secure and leveraged effectively to provide organisational insight. She also assists with HR, company secretarial, GDPR compliance and IT tasks.

Corina is from accountancy practice background and is currently studying towards her ACCA qualification.
