Breast Cancer In Vitro Modeling with Tuneable PeptiGels®

October was Breast Cancer Awareness month, and we decided to showcase what we have been doing scientifically, to add to the body of work that are exploring new novel breast cancer therapies or enhancing the existing therapies to increase patient survival.

Vital to the success of this research lies in having suitable preclinical models that can predict the clinical outcomes. This will provide a platform for breast cancer drug discovery and development. The ongoing study by Helen Clough and Olga Tsigkou has been exploring different ways of mimicking the cells’ natural milieu in vitro with the use of functionalised PeptiGels® (see figure below).

Findings so far with the use of functionalised PeptiGel® Alpha 1 has showed the potential of tuneable PeptiGels® to replicate breast cancer tumour microenvironments. With a range of functionalised PeptiGels®, several other tissue-specific models can be modelled in vitro. If you would like to find out more about these studies or other related case studies to demonstrate the benefits of using PeptiGels®, please get in touch below.
